Alentejo – Heritage, Culture and Nature

In this tour you won’t have to worry about anything, we will arrange your transfer between the airport and your accommodation. Stay at Monsaraz, in a spectacular landscape and environmental setting. A rural accommodation, set in the Great Lake area, a place full of history. On this same day, enjoy a pleasant dinner at the hotel’s restaurant.

Start the day with a nice breakfast and then visit the Medieval Village of Monsaraz, one of the oldest villages in Portugal and classified as a National Monument. On top of a hill, the white and sloping streets are surrounded by medieval walls, standing out on the vast plain. Lunch is free. Afterwards, visit a traditional pottery shop of São Pedro do Corval (Creative Tourism), where the largest community of clay craftsmen is located, or opt for a walking tour through the region. Return and dine at the hotel restaurant.

Another morning with a delicious breakfast in the town of Monsaraz. From here, head to Alqueva to learn about its history and take a boat tour OR a canoe tour on the big lake. After the free lunch, the afternoon is a rest in the hotel, so that you can enjoy the beautiful Alqueva Dark Sky, an area protected and certified internationally as a Dark Sky Reserve or “Tourist Destination of the Starlight”, which extends over an area of about 3000 square kilometers.

Start your day at Herdade do Esporão with a visit to the vineyard and winery. Enjoy the wine tasting prepared for you. The free lunch will be in Reguengos de Monsaraz. It’s time to go further south, to the Agroturismo Xistos, where life made of moments…

First thing in the morning, dazzle yourself with a playful stroll through the Woods of the Farm. Life is of moments and in Agroturismo Xistos you can take advantage of them to dedicate yourself to Nature with the workshops that the Herdade has to offer. This time the dinner will be in a typical restaurant in Alentejo, where you can taste the delicacies of the region, such as the Migas com Entrecosto, the Ensopado, the Beldroegas Soup and the conventual sweets of the richest in Portugal.

Today is the day to visit the Castro Verde Biosphere Reserve, through an interpretative walk. After the picnic, you will have the opportunity to increase your knowledge with a Nature Photography Workshop.

Guided visit to the historical centre of Mértola, where you can visit the Castle and the Chiesa Madre (Mother Church), both classified as National Monument. Lunch in the city. Next, we will give a “jump” to Pulo do Lobo, where you will enjoy a majestic view and full of native wildlife.

The last day, after breakfast, it’s time to return… and think about the next adventure with us.
